A Taste of Our Kitchen

Established in 1989, LA TAQ was New York City's first-ever California-Mexican taqueria, bringing the bold, fresh flavors of California to Park Slope, Brooklyn long before they became a trend. What began as a small street stand created by Martin "Marty" Medina, who transformed a hot dog pushcart into a California-Mexican taco stand serving the recipes and flavors he grew up with, quickly drew lines around the block and introduced authentic Mexican street-style food to the East Coast.

Built on simple, high-quality ingredients, every dish features perfectly grilled meats, house-made salsas, and fresh handmade corn tortillas, often prepared right in the window, delivering authentic flavor in every bite.

Our California-Mexican inspired burritos are wrapped in extra-large 14-inch flour tortillas, designed to be big, satisfying, and packed with flavor. Our tacos and burritos are filled with favorites like Carne Asada, Grilled Pollo Asado, Carnitas Michoacán, Pollo Guisado, Ground Beef, Deshebrada (Shredded Beef), Al Pastor cooked on a traditional trompo, Nopales (Cactus), Roasted Corn, Calabacitas (Zucchini), Chipotle Mushrooms, Grilled Shrimp, and Pan-Seared Fish.

With over 13 different fillings, guests can customize their meal with fresh toppings like Guacamole, Pico de Gallo, Rice, Beans, and more.

At our salsa bar, enjoy complimentary Salsa Verde (mild), Salsa Chipotle (medium), and Salsa Diablo (hot) so you can customize every bite. Don't forget the freshly sliced limes and LA MORENA peppers for an extra kick of authentic flavor.
